WHICH ANCHOR SHOULD I USE?This time of the year most fishing boats anchor to chum or bottom fish and it is important your anchor holds. Dragging an anchor screws up your fishing and everyone else’s fishing. Today it costs quite few dollars to go fishing and if you screw up someone’s chum line they can get very nasty. Fishing in the upper bay you need to use the anchor for the location you are fishing. There’s only a few types of anchors that is commonly used; the Danforth and the Popeye or claw. The Danforth anchor is for soft bottom such as mud or sand. The popeye or claw anchor is designed for hard bottoms such as shells or stones. It doesn’t matter which anchor you use; be sure you have a chain and a lot of rope. The correct anchor, chain, and a lot of rope is the key to holding bottom and having a successful fishing trip. ANYTIME YOU ARE DRAGGING ANCHOR ***PLEASE*** HIDE YOUR P.S.G. FLAG IF YOU HAVE ONE!!! |
