WHERE TO FISH LOVE POINT

ITS A SECRET!!!

Love Point is located on the eastern shore at a point of land on the south side of Chester River. This is known as one of the best locations to catch fish. The problem is Love Point fishing grounds is a very large area with all depths of water. Precisely where is the point? The point has three sides. One side is in Chester River, the other sides are on the Bay facing the west and a northern tip. These are all known as Love Point. There are different depths all around Love Point and that indicates your location. You hear it all the time on the V.H.F. radio when one fisherman asks a buddy where he is fishing, his buddy generally replies "I’m at Love Point". The question is where at Love Point? Have you ever tried to find a friend fishing off Love Point? Especially when he is catching fish? He’d just simply say he is at Love Point, "THAT’S IT". If he gives more information there will be a dozen or more boats headed toward his location also.

Many other fishing locations are small enough that if you say you’re at Snake Reef catching fish your buddy can find you and so will many other fishermen. Today we have the technology of electronics and most boat owners have a G.P.S. or a Loran. This equipment will give map locations by using Latitude, Longitude and TD numbers. Now you and your buddies need a cell phone if you need to keep these numbers secret. Some of the charter boat captains who have purchased V.H.F. radios with scramblers. It’s beneficial to them so they wouldn’t attract too many boats when they’re attempting to assist their buddy in getting their charter limit for the day. The right electronic equipment has become the normal method of fishing in the Bay. The little guy just don’t have much chance without electronics "update" because he wouldn’t be able to communicate with anyone.

Fishing was much more fun when the V.H.F. radio would be crackling all day and fishermen would be reporting how they were doing fishing and where. There is one other way you can keep a secret of where you will be fishing that day and that is to do your homework. This means get with your buddies the day before and do a game plan. Let each buddy know where you will be fishing and the numbers of that location so when you call each other on the V.H.F. you would all know each other’s location by your game plan numbers.

The next time you are fishing Love Point and one of your buddies call you on the radio and ask where you’re at, "Love Point" is just not enough information!!! There are many fishermen that are loaded with secret spots and how and where the fish are biting. Those who like fishing in contest for money carry the most secrets. I think they have secrets because they are afraid of competition from you and me!

I sure hope the P.S.G. members don’t have secrets and are cooperative in helping other members catch fish. This fishing group is about enjoying fishing, meeting new fishing buddies and having a good day on the bay without all the secrets.
