SUPPORT MSSA & CCA

There have been and still are many problems with the fishery and waterways. The Maryland Saltwater Sportfishermen's Association (MSSA) is a political group representing Maryland’s recreational sportfishermen. The Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) is a political group that represents Marylanders as well as the other coastal states.

  These groups are the spokesmen for all recreational fishermen and conservationist. If we didn’t have these political groups there wouldn’t be any regulations for the fishery or waterways. Commercial harvesting of the resources and pollution from dumping would definitely kill the fishery. It would be like a hometown without a police force. I know you fish and you vote but do you do your part and help these political groups become strong in numbers by becoming a member? Numbers are very important in any organization because it is what counts when an issue needs to be recognized by the state.

  Thanks to the political groups such as MSSA and the CCA we have what we have today!!! The MSSA had a lot to do with implementing a moratorium on Stripped Bass in 1989; that was one of the best things that happened resulting in a good Stripped Bass fishery today. The CCA and MSSA protect the fishery through regulations and monitoring issues that may cause further problems.

  The Pasadena Sportfishing Group is non-political but we will inform you of any important issues regarding the fishery. The MSSA and CCA can do something for all fishermen. There are members who will not join these organizations because they don't like one of the officers; "Poor Excuse". Don’t take it out on the group it needs your support and these guys are volunteers trying to do what is best for the fishery and you.

  I suggest you forget the past and start fresh. Become a member of one or both of these organizations. The MSSA and CCA will be at our Flea Market /Show and I hope PSG members will sign up. If you are not a member of either group, don’t come crying on my shoulder about the watermen, dredgers, or any fishery problems. I don’t want to hear it and I cannot help you.

  MSSA and CCA gives you the right to "BITCH, COMPLAIN, AND SUPPORT WHATEVER YOU BELIEVE" but you must join them to be heard!
