SUPPORT YOUR
LOCAL FISHING
TACKLE SHOP
Hey the big-big fishing store is now here in Maryland! So
What! Now we have the big three and other large discount
fishing stores. Guess what not one of them will donate to
PSG’s non-profit kids fishing derbies held each year. How
about this your local tackle shops does! Thanks to JR’s
Discount Tackle who donates each year towards the kids
fishing derby. Bud Hein of Fishbones Bait & Tackle
donates a flat of worms at each event. I am tired of asking
the big fishing stores for donations to our kids fishing
derby. Your local tackle shop is a convenience and
information center for all fishermen. Oh you say there
prices are too high, huh? Well maybe so but look at all the
extras you get (INFORMATION) (ROD & REEL REPAIR) (FRESH
BAIT) and ICE. When you go to the big three check and see if
they have custom made lures such as bucktail,
parachutes, umbrella rigs and jigging baits. Sure they carry
some of these items but take a look at the quality. Try
asking where the fish are biting you’ll love the answer.
These are only a few of the extras your local tackle shop
will share with you. Oh I forgot the word friendly! I can do
without the big three but can you do away with your local
tackle shops? I don’t think so. Sure I purchase items from
the big three but only for the prize table because of the
variety of stock. PSG also purchases prizes from the tackle
shops that support us and I’m asking you to the same.
Tell them the PSG sent you!

PURCHASING A LURE TO CATCH A FISH ?
YOU MUST CATCH THE FISHERMAN FIRST!
There are so many fishing lures on the market today and
they all look good. They come in all sizes, shapes, and
colors. Problem is when purchasing a lure of any kind you
must please the fisherman first and then the fish. Hey the
fisherman is the one with the money not the fish. So
it’s up to the tackle makers to create all types of
lures and add many colors. The prettier the lures the
better they sell but they never ask the fish’s advice.I
have been fishing for over sixty years and I still don’t
understand what a fish sees in all the goofy looking lures
on the market but what’s funny they work. The bottom
line is load your tackle box with what you think will work
best but keep some simple made lure at the bottom of your
box.for an emergency when the pretty ones don’t work. The
simple plain lures still work but won’t catch fisherman
only fish.
